Unit 9 Evaluation

For Unit 9 our task was to take and edit four pictures for each sections which were 'School Brochure' photo essay and Nature and decay. I used PhotoShop to edit my photos and then i added them to my blog analyzed them to show and explain what I had done. For nature and Decay I took pictures of Morton Corbet and I mainly made the pictures dull and dark so they looked a bit more spooky and scary. For my photo essay pictures I took pictures of my brother skateboarding and I did a mixture of different edits some were quite bright and some were dark and dull. Then for my school brochure I went around the school I went around the school and took pictures and when i edited them i just made them look brighter and better so it makes the school look more bright and friendly. From doing this task i definitely got better at using PhotoShop I learnt more things to do. Using photoshop was what i enjoyed using the most because as I was using it I was learning different things at the same time. What I enjoyed using the least was taking the pictures because we had to make sure they were nice and clear so they were easy to edit and make sure my ideas weren't the same as everyone else's. 

I don't really have a favorite edit, but my favorite section of images I edited was 'Nature and Decay' because they were really clear, better quality pictures and were easy to edit. I think they also looked the best out of all the other edits. In my opinion i think they looked more professional. My least favorite edit was probably one of the edits for the School brochure because i think they look a bit dull and bland and  it doesn't really look like i have edited them that much. My Photo essay images were of skateboarding, comparing my edits to professional edits, I think i made them quite similar because they have also used bright colours on some and black and white on others, although the professional images that are used in magazines are a lot more professional looking and clear. To improve my skills at taking photos i just kept trying to get the clearest image I could when I used the camera. 

To improve my skills at editing on PhotoShop watching online tutorials helped me and showed my how to exactly work different things. But also i improved my skills by just playing around on

PhotoShop and trying to work things out for myself.

I used blogger to present my work because it is well organized and everything is in there own little section. Everything is easy to find and look at, and nothing will get lost when you publish it on Blogger. 

Dinner Hall Edit

I didn't really use that many effects on this picture because I wanted to make it look like as if it hasnt been edited, so all i did was made the picture brighter by using the brighter and contrast tools and then I clicked onto Auto-Levels which made the pictures colour look more even. I think it has just made the picture a bit more interesting and brighter.

The effects I used on this picture is all I did was did auto levels which made my picture a little bit clearer and brighter and then I adjusted the saturation to make the picture turn to black and white, I thought it made the picture look  a lot better.

The techniques I have used in my picture are first I clicked on auto contrast, I then put the exposure up so that the picture had more colour and looked better. I then blurred the mirror at the back so that you focussed more onto the equipment.

I didn't use many effects when I edited this picture all I did was upped the contrast and the hue then I went on auto contrast which made the picture a little bit brighter again, I then put the saturation down a little bit so that the photo wasn't that bright. I just went for a simple edit on this picture.

The techniques I have used is first of all I cropped the picture to make it more zoomed in. I then used the selected four different bits of the picture and changed them to different shades of black and white to make it more interesting.

The techniques I have used to edit this picture is a lot different than my other pictures, I decided that I didn't want to just use black and white and change the contrast and brightness instead I used the Lasso tool and selected different shapes on the picture I then pressed Shift and backspace which brought up a box which gave you the option to change the colour of the selected shape and changed all the shapes to different colours. After I had changed the colour I changed the layer option from 'Normal' to 'Overlay'

I didn't really think that this picture needed a lot of editing so all I did was I put the contrast up so that
the picture stood out more and looked better. Also I put the saturation down so that the picture turned to black and white because I think that it looked a lot better.

The techniques I have used on this picture is I put up the contrast, it makes the picture look clearer and more professional. I also flipped the image because I thought that it looked better and more of an interesting angle.

Decay

For this picture I thought I didnt really have to add many effects to it so all I did was put the sharpness up to make it more clear and professional looking, I then went onto huge and saturation and put the saturation up so that it wasn't all the way up to black and white so it looked a bit more dull but not the same as the rest of the pictures.

The techniques I have used on this picture was I first added a sepia effect but then I messed around with the different effects and I thought that the picture looked better in Black and white. After that it looked
like something was missing so I went onto Google and got a picture that would add a grunge texture to it which makes it look more spooky.

The techniques I have used on this picture is I Sharpened it to make the bricks 

stand out better and also i added the black and white effect to the Image 

because it makes it seem more spooky and scary since it is a ruined castle. It also makes the 

weather look duller because on the original it is sunny, but because i want it to look spooky the 

black and white effect makes it look duller.

Decay

The techniques I have used while editing this picture on PhotoShop is  the sharpen tool which makes the picture more clear and you can see the outlines better it stands out. I have also used the black and white effect so that the picture looks more spooky and creepy and dark and fits in better with the decay theme.
